Inspired by the first modern image of the Milky Way mapped by William Herschel in 1785, and reimagined through the contemporary gold-leaf artistry of Desmond Lazaro, this shirt mirrors the poetry of the cosmos. Every mark, every cross-stitch echoes the astronomer’s patient mapping of over six hundred observations, stitched together to reveal the galaxy for the very first time.

On this deep indigo-blue canvas, artisans from west bengal recreated that cosmic choreography by hand — a constellation of tiny, deliberate crosses embroidered using metallic gold thread. Each mark represents a star in the sky, forming a flowing galaxy-shaped cluster across the chest. A quiet shimmer against the night-blue fabric, the embroidery captures how stars look when the sky is clear, still, and infinite.

The Fabric Handwoven in West Bengal using a linen–cotton Thread, the shirt drapes with an earthy refinement. Its hand-embroidered artwork takes over 15 hours, shaped slowly by skilled rural artisans — a meditative process that leaves behind a sense of old-world beauty and modern precision.
